It presently is a two family residence. Enclosure "A" addresses non-conforming aspects of the property I am aware of and my proposal for rectifying these deficiencies. If anything is incomplete or lacking in this application, please let me know. By the way, I will be on a business trip in Europe 23 September through the end of October. If a hearing can be scheduled before 23 September, I would be grateful . Very truly yours, oger H. Rotondi President ems cc: Capt. R. Goggin Salem Fire Department TELUS INC. 4 DEARBORN ROAD PEABODY MA 01960 USA 617 535 6600 TELEX 951725 ENCLOSURE "A" Subject: 1 Milk Street - Appeal to Make Three Family Access to 3rd Floor The attached sketch shows present 3rd floor plan and access at rear. I propose to install an access to the second floor front hallway from the front room (bed room) of the third floor. The access will be a spiral staircase or other construction approved by Salem Building Inspector. Fire Alarms Another change required is to install "hard wired" fire alarm systems in all three floors in accordance with Salem Fire Dept. requirements for dwellings having more than two units. This will be done. 3rd Floor Suitability to be a Spearate Living Unit Two large dormers have been added to the third floor. In addition, the entire space has been renovated. Of the three floors, the third is the most desireable space because of its views, cathedral ceilings, modern kitchen and bathroom, newly installed skylights, and attractive finish. My intention, if the appeal is approved, is to rent the third floor for 'aporoximately $25. per month more than the other two floors. Parking There is present parking for a minimum of four full sized cars in the double wide driveway (see attached sketch) . This arrangement may not meet the letter of the Salem ordinance for a three family house. There is room to expand the driveway area to meet all the Salem requirements as shown, and I will be willing to do so. However, I would prefer obtaining a waiver to use the space as it is. The first floor tenants do not own a car.
