LEONARD F.O'LEARY DAVID B.GAUDREAULT SARAH M.HAYES MARK E.BLAIR December 9, 1992 Mr. Richard Bencal, Chairman Board of Appeal One Salem Green Salem, Ma. 01970 Dear Mr. Chairman: I am writing to you relative to the proposed variance for the property at 101 Jackson Street. The petitioners presently operate a Health Club at 92 Jackson Street. The parcel at 101 Jackson Street directly abuts a residential neighborhood. The neighbors and abutters are in opposition to the variance and have raised several concerns which will be presented to you this evening. Unfortunately, a conflict in meeting schedules prevents me from attending however, I join with the neighborhood in opposition to this petition. The original variance for the operation of a Health Club at 92 Jackson Street dated 1979 stated that the original petitioners were t.o provide 20 off-street parking spaces for customers and that the operation of the business would not be a nuisance to the neighbors . Since there has not been any attempt by the previous or present owners to satisfy these conditions during the past 13 years, I would suggest that an attempt be made by the petitioners to satisfy these requirements by seeking off-street parking on one of the commercial or industrial parcels located near the present Health Club and away from the residential neighborhood. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, VINCENT F FAR COUNC OR WARD T REE t Y PETITION AGAINST PARKING LOT CONSTRUCTION AT 101 JACKSON STREET, SALEM, MA.
