RE. REgUEST TO WITHDRAW
PETITION OF IGREJA EVANGELICAL PENTECOSTAL
430 ESSEX STREET. SALEM, MA
Dear Members of the Board:
I have been asked to represent the Petitioner, also known as the Good Shepard
Evangelical Pentecostal Church, concerning the above referenced matter. i believe
their petition is scheduled to be heard at this evening's hearing.
The Petitioner has entered into a purchase and sale agreement for the purchase
of commercial condominium units situated at 430 Essex Street. They will use the
property as their new church, They are a small Portuguese congregation consisting of
40 members.
Their purchase and sale agreement is contingent upon obtaining all necessary
permits from the City of Salem for use as a church. It was the original opinion,
pursuant to Section 7-3(g), that the Petitioner required a determination from your
Board concerning the number of off-street parking spaces necessary for their intended
use. However, the Building Inspector and I overlooked Section 7-3(c) of the Zoning
Ordinance which states in part that "off-street parking shall not be required for any
church or other place of worship".
As a result, the Petitioner's application is no longer necessary. Therefore, we
are respectfully requesting to withdraw the above referenced application without
prejudice.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation with this matter.
Very truly yours,
AnXelm B an , Von es
