Dear Mr. McIntosh:
This letter is to inform you that we Thomas
and Dorothy Spurrier, purchased the property located
at 452 Lafayette St. , Salem in 1959. Prior to our
purchase the house had been used as a two family.
During the time we lived there we continued to rent
out a portion of the house including the second floor
kitchen and bath. There is a separate private
entrance on the left side of the building, which
leads to the apartment, plus additional egress via
the main front hallway.
When we sold our house at 452 Lafayette St . to
Jamie and Nancy Burns in 1981 we did so as a two
family house.
If you should need further information regarding
this matter;:-please do not hesitate to contact us .

This letter is to substantitate the use
of the property located at 452 Lafayette
Street, Salem, Ma. as a two family home
prior to 1965.

Company' s Salem City Directory and the
occupants names with corresponding years

The Burns' purchased the property in 1980.
Their first tenant was Melinda Pinkham and
their present tenant is Richard Lyons.
I have also spoken to the former owners,
Thomas and Dorothy Spurrier who purchased
the property as a two family home in 1959
and who told me that two school teachers
had lived in the apartment when the previous
owner had owned the house.
I also spoke to the Massachusetts Electric
Company who informed me that they could not
search back in their records for the , —
exact date of installation of the two electric
meters.
I sincerely hope however,that the foregoing
information will be sufficeint for you to
officially label 452 Lafayette Street as a
two family home.

Dear Mr. McIntosh:
This letter is to inform you that we, Nancy and
Jamie Burns, purchased the property located at 452
Lafayette St . , Salem, MA in 1981 from Dorothy and
Thomas Spurrier. When we purchased 452 Lafayette St .
we bought it as a two family dwelling and have continued
to use it as a two family since our purchase.
It is our hope that this letter, the letter from
Mr. and Mrs. Spurrier, plus the information attached
regarding double occupancy as gathered from the City
Directory will clarify the question as to the legal
use of 452 Lafayette Street as a two family, so that
it may be registered as such on your records .
