JANUARY 5, 2009
SPECIAL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
A Special Meeting of the City Council was held in the Council Chamber on
Monday, January 5, 2009 at 6.00 P.M. for the purpose of organizing city government
for the year 2009. Notice of this meeting was posted on January 2, 2008 at 8.30 A.M.
All Councillors were present.
City Clerk Cheryl A. LaPointe called the meeting to order, and Councillor
Joseph A. O'Keefe, Sr., Senior Member, assumed the Chair.
Acting President O'Keefe called upon Councillors Ryan and Veno to lead us in
the Pledge of Allegiance.
Acting President O' Keefe recognized Councillor Lovely.
#1 - ELECTION OF PRESIDENT
Councillor Lovely introduced the following Order.
Ordered: That the City Council proceed to organize for 2009 by the election of
a president.
Councillor Pinto nominated Councillor Prevey.
Councillor McCarthy seconded the nomination.
Councillor Pelletier nominated Councillor O'Keefe.
Councillor O'Keefe declined the nomination.
Councillor Pelletier moved that nominations be closed. It was so voted.
Councillor Paul C. Prevey was elected President of the City Council for the year
2009 by a roll call vote of 10 Councillors voting for Councillor Prevey, 1 Councillor was
recorded as "present".
Councillor Veno moved that the vote be unanimous. It was so voted.
Acting President O'Keefe appointed Councillors Sargent and Ryan to escort
newly elected President Prevey to the rostrum.
President Prevey thanked the City Council for electing him President.

#2 - RULES AND REGULATIONS
Councillor Sosnowski introduced the following order, which was adopted.
ORDERED: That the rules and regulations of the City Council for the year 2008
be adopted as the rules and regulations for the year 2009, and that the same be
suspended for this meeting.
#3 - MAYOR ADDRESS COUNCIL
Councillor Furey introduced the following Order, which was adopted.
ORDERED: That her Honor the Mayor be invited to address the members of
the City Council at this session.
President Prevey then introduced Mayor Kimberley Driscoll, who gave her State
of the City Address, and thanked her at the close of her address.
On the motion of Councillor O'Keefe, the meeting adjourned at 6.50 P.M.
