JANUARY 3, 2005
SPECIAL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
A Special Meeting of the City Council was held in the Council Chamber on
Monday, January 3, 2005 at 6.00 P.M. for the purpose of organizing city government
for the year 2003. Notice of this meeting was posted on December 30, 2003 at 3.31
P.M.
All Councillors were present.
City Clerk Cheryl A. LaPointe called the meeting to order, and Councillor
Leonard F. O'Leary, Senior Member, assumed the Chair.
Acting President O'Leary called upon Councillors Corchado and Pelletier to
lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Senior member Harvey thanked out-going President Leonard F. O'Leary, and
presented him with a gift.
#1 - ELECTION OF PRESIDENT
Councillor Sosnowski introduced the following Order, which was adopted.
Ordered: That the City Council proceed to organize for 2005 by the election of
a president.
Councillor Furey nominated Councillor Bencal.
Councillor Lovely seconded the nomination.
Councillor Veno moved that nominations be closed. It was so voted.
Councillor Michael Bencal was elected President of the City Council for the year
2005 by a unanimous roll call vote of 11 Councillors voting for Councillor Bencal.
Acting President O'Leary appointed Councillors Harvey and O'Keefe to escort
newly elected President Bencal to the rostrum.
President Bencal thanked the City Council for electing him President.

#2 - RULES AND REGULATIONS
Councillor Sargent introduced the following order, which was adopted.
ORDERED: That the rules and regulations of the City Council for the year 2004
be adopted as the rules and regulations for the year 2005, and that the same be
suspended for this meeting.
#3 - MAYOR ADDRESS COUNCIL
Councillor O'Leary introduced the following Order, which was adopted.
ORDERED: That his Honor the Mayor be invited to address the members of
the City Council at this session.
President Bencal then introduced Mayor Usovicz, who gave his State of the City
Address, and thanked him at the close of his address.
On the motion of Councillor Furey, the meeting adjourned at 6.45 P.M.
