I was told by Mike Lutrzykowski that he checked with you and that the permit for the HVAC was issued"like for like". The previous single HVAC unit at 172 has now been replaced by three separate HVAC units, each the size of what had previously existed singly, which in my mind is not like for like. As my second-story apartment across the Cedar Street is level with the roof of 172 Lafayette, I and my neighbors in the three-story residential buildings that surround 172 now must look at much more unsightly electrical equipment than had previously existed. Moreover, each of the three units is aligned with the Cedar Street side of the roof. When the Prime gas station across the street went through planning board review, it was determined that the HVAC unit on their single-story roof should be screened to mitigate the visual impact of that equipment to the surrounding multi-story residential buildings. The situation at 172 on the other side of Lafayette Street is exactly the same. The HVAC changes at 172 should require equivalent treatment. Based on the determination made for the Prime gas station HVAC, I hereby request that the HVAC units at 172 be required to be similarly screened as they are unsightly and now much more numerous than had previously existed. A significant change in condition has occurred. It is appropriate and fair that a consistency of policy be applied and expected under these permits so that the residents surrounding 172 have equal treatment and consideration with those on the other side of the street surrounding the Prime gas station,under nearly identical circumstances.
