Honorable Anthony Salvo Re: Teleohone Garage
Mayor of Salem Jefferson Ave.
Dear Mayor Salvo:
May I respectfully bring your attention to the above referenced
property? It is currently on the market for sale. The opportunity
for the city to purchase the building for a possible police station
use is there now.
The present police station is in very serious need of substantial
rehabilitation. (New cell blocks, central air conditioning, new roofs,
new efficient windows, updated heating system, etc. ) . Estimated costs
of which will probably exceed $300,000.00.
It may make sense at this time, to consider relocation of the
Police Department and possibly selling the present station. (The
Peabody Museum may be interested in purchasing it) . In any event,
the opportunity will disappear once the Telephone Building is sold,
which makes the above worthy of consideration.
Very truly yours,
Richard T. McIntosh
