One.. Salem Green Salem, MA 01970 Dear Mr. Martineau: I wanted to let you know that our Association will be renting the Apartment again at 8 Hawthorne Boulevard, from Charles McManus . We previously rented this apartment for the four men who moved to 37 Mason Street last month. In light of our discussion about this site, I wanted to let you know why. we are renting there again. Essentially, it is because we have no other option at this time. We have been looking for about 8 months for a new location r for a Staffed Apartment program we have operated for the past 7 years . We have: been unable to find a new site and are now faced with the termination of our lease at the end of this month. It finally has come down to renting this apartment again or having no place for these four men to live as of next Tuesday. We have worked out a short term rental agreement with Mr. McManus, October 1st until June 30th. We view our being there as temporary situation and will continue to look at other potential sites. The goal being to find a house like the Mason Street one for this program by next spring. This arrangement at least solves our immediate problem of where to move to next week and give us time to work out a permenant solution for these men. On the positive side Mr. McManus has completely redone the apartment over the past month, so that it is clean and in much better condition than it was formerly in. Serving the towns of: BEVERLY.DANVERS.ESSEX.GLOUCESTER,HAMILTON.IPSWICH.LYNN.LYNNFIELD.MANCHESTER.MARBLEHEAD,MIDDLETON, NAHANT,PEABODY.ROCKPORT.SALEM.SAUGUS,SWAMPSCOTT.TOPSFIELD.WENHAM UL The grogram we are moving to this site is licensed t1:y A fp55, Department of Mental Health as a Staffed Apartmentj 0f-t a "Group Residence" and, therefore, the site need not be inspected for complience with Section 424 . 0 of the State Building Code. However, since this particular apartment meets the requirements of Section 424 already, we feel that it is workable for us on a short term basis . Please, '-let me know if you have any questions in this regard. s Sincerely, Gerard L.
