Dear Mr. St. Pierre,
We acknowledge your letter stating the unsafe condition of our garage. We
are in the process of getting bids from various contractors. We have boarded
up the windows and doors, so no access can be gained. We require 45 to 60
days to get the bids and start the work.
Please note that we did not ignore your request, but just need some time to
get this situation resolved correctly.
Thank you for your letter and we will take care of this issue.
Sincerely,

RE: Garage- Unsafe Structure
Dear Owners:
This Department has received and investigated a complaint regarding an "unsafe
structure" in your yard. The structure is a multiple car, cinder block garage with a wood
roof structure. Sections of the roof have failed and the remaining roof structure is in
danger of collapse.
Therefore, per the State Building Code 780 CMR, Section 121, I am declaring the garage
an "unsafe structure".
Per this section of the Building Code you have 24 hours to begin to repair or remove the
structure. Failure to address this notice will result in the City tearing down the building
and placing a lien on the property to recover costs.
There is no appeal from this order. If you feel you are aggrieved by this order, you may
have the remedy described by Mass General Law 139, Section 2.
If you have any questions, please contact me directly.
