This letter is determine use and number of units only and in no way meant to confirm or deny whether said property is in compliance with all Building Department, Plumbing Department, Gas Department, Electrical Department,Fire Department or Health Department codes and regulations. We are in the process of getting bids from various contractors. We have boarded up the windows and doors, so no access can be gained. We require 45 to 60 days to get the bids and start the work. Please note that we did not ignore your request, but just need some time to get this situation resolved correctly. Thank you for your letter and we will take care of this issue. The structure is a multiple car, cinder block garage with a wood roof structure. Sections of the roof have failed and the remaining roof structure is in danger of collapse. Therefore, per the State Building Code 780 CMR, Section 121, I am declaring the garage an "unsafe structure". Per this section of the Building Code you have 24 hours to begin to repair or remove the structure. Failure to address this notice will result in the City tearing down the building and placing a lien on the property to recover costs. There is no appeal from this order. If you feel you are aggrieved by this order, you may have the remedy described by Mass General Law 139, Section 2. If you have any questions, please contact me directly. Both forms of construction are in disrepair and pose a hazard to anyone working in or around this structure.
