TO: Brian Lockartd,City of Salem Board of Health
FROM: John J. Giardi,Wire Inspecter
SUBJECT: 47 Hathorne Street ^
Wire Inspector,John J. Giardi was asked to investigate a
problem that existed at 47 Hathorne'•Street. It was explained to
Inspector Giardi, that a Branch Circuit in the kitchen was blow-
ing a fuse, because, two appliances were plugged into the same
outlet. As a result and fact, you cannot plug a toaster and an
iron into the same outlet , because of the load being served would
be to great and the circuit breaker or fuse would trip out
because of the overload. It is my recommendation to either have
the landlord or the tenant install one additional branch circuit .

Dear Sir:
Herewith re your letter concerning the installation of a
snow fence on the slate roof of Mr. Raftopoulos ' building
at 47 Hawthorne Street, The Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Statewide Building Code (in effect since January 1 , 1975)
makes no provisions wherein this office could mandate such
a ruling.
No doubt the February storm has created problems quite
unusual for this era, but after considerable research we
can find nothing to warrant such an action at this time.
However, please feel free to communicate with this office
on any other problems that may arise wherein we may be of
assistance to you.
Sincerely,
srrC/la
