Notes: The applicant is proposing to renovate an existing non-conforming
illuminated monument sign. Section 4-54 Alteration, repair and replacement
of on-premesis signs says in part, "A sign that does not conform with this
article may be repaired, provided that the cost of repair does not exceed 35
percent of the replacement cost of the entire sign". In a prior application that
was recinded (SP-21-33), the applicant proposed a new nonconforming
freestanding sign that was estimated to cost $23,000. The estimated cost for
this sign repair, provided by the applicant, is $4,200, which is below 35
percent of the replacement cost above. The proposed sign area is within the
maxumum allowed.
