Dear Mr . Munroe :
I am writing you to assure you that it is the intent
of Luigi Baldassarre d/b/a A & G Auto Body Shop at 13
Franklin Street , Salem, to limit the use of the class 2
dealer license issued recently by the City of Salem to him.
He intends to use 'it only for purposes directly related to
maintaining and operating his body shop at that location and
will not use the premises ( inside or outside) for the purpose
of car sales .

Due to complaints an inspection was conducted of your property at '13 Frank-
1 in
rank-lin Street on December 29, 1986 by a representative of this department.
The following was noted:
1. A sump pump is pumping water that is seeping into the basement out of
building onto the street causing icy conditions.
The above is a violation of the State Environmental Code, Title 5, Section
15.02. This Department hereby requests that the above violation be discon-
tinued immediately. We also refer you to the Building Inspector and pub-
lic service Director for assistance in this matter.
If you need further assistance or have any questions please feel free to

As a result of an inspection this date of the premises, structure,
open land area or vehicle owned, occupied or otherwise under your
control , the following recommendations are submitted and shall serve
as a notice of violation of fire laws. These recommendations are
made in the interest of fire prevention and to correct conditions
that are or may become dangerous as a fire hazard or are in violation
of law.
You are hereby notified to remedy said violations named below within
thirty days of above date.
Such further action will be taken as the law requires , for failure
to comply with the above requirements within the stipulated time.
(Reference: General Laws of Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Chapter 148 ,
Section 30; and the Salem Fire Code Article 1 . )
1. Inspection of your premises has resulted 'in several violations of
the Mass. State Building Code and the Fire Prevention Regulations
coming to light. Operation of your facility has been such that
it is necessary at this time to enforce compliance with all pro-
visions of the codes, for elemination of hazardous conditions.
2. Eleminate all excessive accumulation of rubbish and method of
storing of same. Open cardboard boxes are not permitted and only
covered metal containers are permitted for storage of combustible
rubbish. Large boxes may be broken down and- stored flat until they
are disposed of.
3. Electrical panel was found open and several electrical wireing
deficiencies were noted, including use of lighting fixtures and
open wireing in the spray booth area. The Exhaust fan shall be
properly wired and the fan protected from physical contact by persons
working in the area.
4. The exhaust duct shall be extended in approved duct to the point
at least 40" above the roof line. Presently exhausted directly outside.
5. A domestic sprinkler installation is required within the spray booth.
This will require two heads in the booth area. Piping shall be approved
and a plan will be required.

7. Fire Extinguishers are approved, but shall be maintained properly.
8. Upon completion and approval of the paint spray booth, an approved
storage area will be required for storage of flammables. This may
be included within the spray booth room, and a plan shall be sub-
mitted showing said storage area. Upon completion an annual permit
(Form 90A) is required for operation and storage.
Adequate plans are required to be approved by the Fire Prevention
Bureau, the Salem Building Inspector and the Salem Electrical Dept.
before work is started. The continued use of this area is contingent
upon completion of this work and the issueance of a Certificate of
Occupancy by the Salem Building Inspector.
Your current permits are being withheld until the work is completed.
As a result of this existing condition, and so as not to create an
exgreme hardship on you, you may continue in operation, with limited
approval for thirty days.
