It is hereby certified that the Salem Historical Commission has determined that the proposed:

as described below will be appropriate to the preservation of said Historic District, as per the requirements set forth in the Historic
District's Act (M.G.L. Ch. 40C) and the Salem Historic Districts Ordinance.

Applicant's Description of Work: As part of a larger interior renovation, we are replacing windows on the side and rear of the home.
There are no windows being replaced on the front face of the home on Federal St. The homeowner would like to use Andersen
windows instead of Jeldwen. In the attachments you will see a picture of how set back the home is as well as a full set of plans that
show the existing window locations and which are being replaced.
Statement of Conditions:
· Demolition of several minor existing architectural elements including windows on the west,
north and east facades
· Demolition of siding and window trim to make way for new work,
· Demolition of one historic column on the west side of the covered porch.
· The proposed work will include the installation of several new windows and the replacement of
several windows on the west, north and east facades.
o The windows will be Jeldwen Siteline Anderson windows with simulated divided lite grille
bars in a two over one grille pattern.
o Patch and repair clapboard siding where necessary (which shall match existing in profile and
exposure).
o Where applicable, new window trim will match the existing profile and will include a fatstock
piece of trim with a moulding band.
· On the west side of the covered porch we are enclosing part of the covered porch.
Non-applicable due to the proposed work not being visible from a public way named in the district.

*NOTE: Historic materials and details must be retained and repaired except where material is not
salvageable and must be replaced. If replacement is necessary, new elements must replicate existing
details, dimensions and materials. Should any changes to materials, design or outward appearance be
determined necessary, Applicant must submit a new application for review.
Upon completion of the above work, please notify Historical Commission staff as final sign-off is required
to document compliance with this Certificate and approved plans.
