Dear Sir:
As a result of an inspection: of your property at 17 Foster Street' _
by this Department, it' was determined that you have an unsafe first
floor—rear .porch.
As we have no record of any building permit being taken out to build
a rear porch, the porch is also illegal.
You will have to have a licensed builder submit a plan and request
for a permit to make the porch safe,or the porch will have to be removed.

1. There are no locks on the windows. There are no sashcords on the windows; windows
won't stay up.
Bedroom - front right:
2. The light fixture is hanging by the wires from the ceiling. The light fixture does
not work.
3. The window is not weathertight, there are no sashcords, there is no lock, the combination
widnow needs caulking.
Bedroom - front left:
4. The bottom sash of the window is the wrong size (too tall) , there are no locks and no
sashcords on the window.
Bathroom:
5. The sink is loose; not securely attached to the wall.
6. The ceramic tile around the tub enclosure is not completely grouted. The plaster behind
the tile has in some areas become unkeyed.
Rear Bedroom:
7. There is no lock on the window, no sashcords and one window stop is cracked.
8. There is only one electrical outlet in the room. Another outlet or permanent light
fixture is needed.
9. Tenant claims that the plaster from the ceiling above sometimes falls down onto the
suspended ceiling.
10. The heating duct does not tightly fit the floor register.
Kitchen:
11. The floor covering has many missing tiles exposing the plywood sub-flooring.
12. The wall that the kitchen counter is against leaks when it rains.
13. The window above the kitchen sink is not weathertight. Both windows have no locks.

Common Areas:
14. There are holes and cracks in the plaster of the walls of the front staircase.
15. There is no coverplate over the light switch and the coverplate over the electrical
outlet is loose in the first floor landing of the front staircase.
16. The rear entry door of the dwelling is not weathertight. One light in the door is
broken.
17. There are holes in the plaster of the walls of the rear staircase.
18. There is no light fixture to illuminate the upper portion of the rear staircase.
Basement:
19. Two electrical switches are hanging off the wall by BX cable.
20. There is a vent pipe that is no longer in use sticking out of the chimney. This should
be sealed-up.
Exterior:
21. The rear porch is improperly constructed and structurally unsafe.
22. Gutters are broken and rotted in places and in need of repair.
23. . Almost all of downspouts are missing.
24. Clapboard siding is buckled in places.
25. Junk, refuse and old construction materials are littered around the yard.
26. A sufficient number of durable rodent-proof trash receptacles with tight fitting covers
are needed to store the accumulation of refuse until collection day.
