Dear Owners, this department has received and confirmed a complaint regarding your property.
You are allowing a trailer to be occupied for living purposes in excess of 20 Days. City of Salem
Zoning Ordinance 7-1(1). This section states the following:"The owner of a residential premises
may permit occupancy of such premises by non paying guests using a trailer for a period not to
exceed twenty(20) days. A Special permit for this purpose must be obtained from the Inspector
of Buildings before the land can be so occupied. No more than one (1) trailer is permitted with
any one (1) residence or lot." Also a waste pipe exists that connects the trailer to the home at
8 Island Ave. This is a violation of the State Plumbing Code..
You are directed to remove the trailer and correct the Plumbing violation within 15 days of
receipt of this notice.If you feel you are aggrieved by the Zoning interpretation,your appeal is to
the Salem Zoning Board of Appeals. If you have any questions, please contact me directly.
