Dear City Councilors,
I am writing to request the reimbursement of building permit fees related to a project at 76
Leach St. We began a project in 2017 to convert the property to a 5 unit condominium project,
which was allowable by right based on the zoning in place at that time, and paid a permit fee
based on the construction budget necessary to change the configuration of the building and add
a substantial addition. After the permit issued,the zoning of the property was ganged, and the
Building Department withdrew our permit We decided not to appeal and instead renovated the
existing 3 family and as a result the budget was half what it would have been.
The building commissioner is unable to refund our permit fee and referred us to make a request
to the City Council.
The fee paid was$3,300; please reimburse us$1,650.
