Dear Annie :
I am writing this letter in response to your letter of
October 23, 1990 , regarding skylights at 41 Flint Street .
During the period of restoration of the property, several
meetings were held with the Historic Commission to review
plans . During a meeting in April of 1984, the top flat roof ,
in particular, was discussed. The discussion encompassed
removal of the patched roofing material , consisting of slate,
roll roofing, and shingles of various colors , on the flat
part of the roof and replacing it with shingles of a color
similar to the slate on the mansard sides . During that same
meeting, we discussed the sky lights . I was asked if they
were visible from the street ; before I could answer I was
asked if they were on the flat roof portion and I said yes
and was told that it would not be a problem. ��
The historic commission has reviewed the restoration o#'41 F
Flint Street several times after that meeting, including—our
req-uest—for certificates of non applicability for painting in
1985 and 1990 and slate repair in 1989 . No comment regarding
the sky light was made at any of these times .
If there was a reconsideration of your original approval in
1984, I wish you had notified us in 1984 so we could have
made the changes at a time when the sky light could have been
returned and the builder was available to change the skylight
at little additional cost . To notify us six years later
seems puzzling.

Dear Mr. Farwell :
Please be advised , Wire Inspector John J . Giardi upon conducting a
finish inspection on October 8 , 1985 , the following condition exist at
these said premises ; duplex outlets located over and right aside of kit-
chen sinks , thus creating an unsafe situation for electrical shock.
These outlets shall be located twelve inches from the inside wall of
the sinks in question .
On the second floor , a heat pump was so installed that to prevent
service to the over current device protecting that unit , relocations of
the unit will be required .
These said violations exist under Article 90 and Article 300 of the
Massachusetts and National Electrical Code. Unless these said violtaions
are corrected , I cannot sign the Certificate of Occupancy.
