Dear Homeowner:
Since the end of the construction season is rapidly
approaching, the Salem Historical Commission is reviewing all
outstanding violations and incomplete work within each of the four
historic districts .
As you are aware, your property at-2-Fl-int---Street

is considered an outstanding issue for the installation of a
deck without approval
The most recent status on the project was you were notified of
the violation on April 2 , 3 & August 13, 1991
The Salem Historical Commission respectfully requests an update on
the status of this issue on or before November 6 , 1991 .
At the Commission' s regular meeting of November 6 , 1991, a
list of homeowners who are unresponsive or do not plan to resolve
the outstanding issue promptly will be compiled and forwarded to
the City Solicitor' s Office for legal enforcement.

A visual inspection of the side porch at 2 Flint Street made by
this department revealed the following:
The porch floor, roof, railings, and steps are in very bad con-
dition and in danger of collapsing.
There is a very real danger to the safety of the public as well
as the danger that exists should you require the services of the
Fire Department and if one of their firemen crashed through the
-- rotted roof.
Please take the action that is necessary to correct this serious
condition.

has collapsed some of the rafters. The snow shall be removed, but
in no circumstance shall anyone venture onto the roof.
The roof shall be repaired or removed. This is your second notice
of this condition.

It has come to the attention of the Salem Historical Commission that landscaping timbers have
been installed at your property at 2 Flint Street which is located within one of Salem's four historic
districts. According to our records, there is no approved Certificate for either Appropriateness, Hardship
or Non-Applicability.
At this time, the Commission respectfully requests that, within 30 days, you either:
- Remove the landscaping timbers;
- Submit a copy of an approved Certificate;
- Submit a formal application for the Commission to review the work completed; or
- Provide documentation that the landscaping timbers were installed prior to the creation
of the historic district.
