At its meeting on May 19, 2005, the Planning Board voted to recommend as follows on the
proposed amendment to the zoning ordinance:
1. To see if the City will vote to amend the Salem Zoning By-Laws by deleting the text, "The
plan shall be prepared by a registered land surveyor, and his official stamp or seal shall be
affixed to the plan" from Section 9-6 Amendments.
■ Voted seven in favor, one opposed (7-1) to support the intent of the proposed
amendment and recommended that as part of the amendment, the City Council
further amend Section 9-6(c) by deleting the following text, subject to review and
approval of the City Solicitor:
"The plan shall be drawn accurately,with ink on tracing cloth, at a scale (preferably
at one inch equals twenty feet) sufficiently large to show clearly the following data:
1. The metes and bounds of the site;
2. All streets and other reference marks;
3. All outstanding topographical features;
4. All abutting lots,including the names and addresses of the present
owners;
5. Any buildings or structures on the site and on abutting properties within
three hundred feet of the site; the first floor elevations of all buildings
and/or structures shall be shown; and
6. All easements or other restrictions on the site."
