Salem Ma. 01970 RX 30 Hancock Street Dear Mr. DeSouza This office,after receiving a complaint and after a site visit,has determined that a third unit exists at the property.This Department made a determination in September of 2003 that the building was a two unit building. The third unit has only one means of egress and there is no record of a building permit as required by 780 C.M.R section 11 Land there is no record of the required relief that would have been needed from the Salem Zoning Board of Appeals. Therefore, you are directed to cease and desist using the third floor unit.You are further ordered to submit a plan within 30 days outlining your plans to bring the building into compliance with all applicable laws and codes.Failure to address this problem will result in Municipal fines and further enforcement actions. If you feel you are aggrieved by the Building code portion of this order,your Appeal is to the Board of Buildings,Regulations and Standards in Boston.
