It will be necessary to arrange an inspection of your property within fifteen (15) days upon receipt of this letter Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. Sincerely, Thomas St. Pierre Local Building Inspector cc: Joe Walsh Fire Prevention Councillor Hayes 33 Dearborn Street Salem, Massachusetts January 15,2001 Peter Strout Building Inspector, City of Salem One Salem Green Salem, Ma 01970 Dear Mr. Strout: We have contacted you previously regarding the residence next door to us, 31 Dearborn Street, and the fact that the owner had tenants in a third floor apartment which was a zoning illegality for that address. At that time the owner agreed that when the occupants moved out, she would no longer rent that unit. Once again, the unit has been occupied by tenants the past several weeks. Not only is this an illegal occupancy, but a concern for all individuals occupying that residence as the third floor has only one egress, a stairway, with no other provision for exit should a fire or other catastrophe occur. The first floor is occupied by the owner and a friend, and the second floor by a family of four, including a newborn child. Also, the third floor does not have a stove in the room used as a kitchen and any cooking must be done on an electric hot plate. We would appreciate it if you would look into this situation and inform us as to what, if anything, can be done about it. Thank you. cerely O
