During a mandatory building inspection on June 3, 2025. It was observed that the property at 29
Perkins Street has two separate basement areas being used as illegal dwelling units without
proper means of egress. This is in violation of 780 CMR Chapter 10-Means of Egress. You were

sent on June 4, 2025. It has come to the building department's attention that this violation has not
been resolved.
After further inspection of the property, it was observed in Unit 1 (First floor; front-left side)that
one of the two means of egresses passes through a room being used as a bedroom. This is in
violation of 780 CMR sec. 1016.2. It was also noted that the same unit does not have a carbon
monoxide detector which is in violation of 780 CMR sec. 915. It was also noted at the top
landing areas of both staircases are being used as storage areas by tenants. This is in violation of
780 CMR Chapter 10-Means of Egress. You were directed to resolve these violations upon
