2025-08-27 DRB Agenda City Hall Annex • 98 Washington Street • Salem, Massachusetts 01970 • (978) 619-5685 Page 1 of 2 Design Review Board Meeting Agenda Wednesday, August 27, 2025 6:00 pm Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the Design Review Board will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. via remote participation pursuant to Section 30A of Chapter 20 of the Acts of 2021, as amended by Section 40 of Chapter 2 of the Acts of 2023, and further amended by Section 1 of Chapter 2 of the Acts of 2025, the City is authorized to conduct remote meetings of its public bodies through June 30, 2027. Every effort will be made to ensure that the public can adequately access the proceedings in real time, via technological means. If we are unable to do so on matters not requiring a public hearing, we will post on the City of Salem’s website an audio or video recording, transcript, or other comprehensive record of proceedings as soon as possible after the meeting. Individuals may participate remotely in the meeting via a remote participation platform called Zoom. Request to continue to the November DRB meeting 4. 216 Essex Street: Small Project Review – Proposal to modify the façade to facilitate the change in use from offices to hotel, including new doors, new trim paint, and new light fixtures. The use of public land adjacent to the property will be considered at a later date via a separate permit application. 5. 301 Essex Street: Schematic Design Review – Review of residential units and interior building layout. The DRB previously recommended approval of exterior designs for the amendment, which consists of the ground floor as commercial space instead of a parking garage. Projects Outside of the Urban Renewal Area 1. 342 Highland Ave: Entrance Corridor – Pre-Construction Document Review – Review of AL Prime Gas Station pre-construction documents which account for changes from previous DRB review in 2021.
