Dear Owners,
On the evening of Saturday,November 1, 2025, I was contacted by the Fire Department
regarding an active fire at 35 Felt Street. Once the fire was extinguished, I conducted an
inspection along with the Deputy on duty and determined that the building was not safe for
occupancy at that time.
On the morning of Sunday,November 2,2025, I was called to the same property a second time
in response to two additional active fires, one on the same property and the other on the
neighboring property.
This letter confirms that following the fire incidents at 35 Felt Street, the structure was inspected
jointly by the Fire Chief and myself. Upon inspection, it was determined that the building was
dangerous, unsafe for occupancy, and could not be salvaged due to extensive fire damage that
had severely compromised the structural integrity of the premises.
As a result of these dangerous and irreparable conditions, I issued an emergency demolition
order and had the building demolished and a six-foot temporary construction fence erected to
eliminate the imminent danger to public safety. The demolition was carried out by Spencer
Contracting immediately following the extinguish of the fire on Sunday November 2, 2025.
Sincerely,
Voula Orfanos
Building Commissioner
CC: Alan Dionne Fire Chief
