The inspector did not observe this at the time of inspection. The inspector consulted the City of Salem's Plumbing Inspector, showing pictures of the main sewer drain setup in the basement, and he informed the inspector that the main sewer drain setup was done well. The Plumbing Inspector suggested having the drains in the dwelling unit snaked to help with the toilet, shower, and sink. One of the occupants expressed to the inspector the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors did not work during the March 10, 2022 fire incident. The inspector consulted the City of Salem Fire Department. The inspector notifies the property owner, property manager, and the occupants that while it is the property owner's responsibility to provide and maintain smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, the occupants are also responsible for exercising reasonable care of the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to which they have exclusive access.
