The Undersigned represent(s) that they are the owner(s) of a certain parcel of land located at:
Address: 55 BUTLER STREET U2 Zoning District: R1
An application is being submitted to the Board of Appeals for the following reason(s):
Propose to change existing nonconforming 2-family use in the R-1 District to another nonconforming use as a 3-family use. Also
requesting variances to approve lot are per dwelling unit from existing of 2,119 SF for the 2 units, to 1,413 SF per unit for 3 units, where
15,000 SF per unit is required in R-1. Also requesting a parking variance to allow 1 parking space per unit as shown on the Plot Plan,
where 1.5 spaces per unit are required.
For this reason, I am requesting:
[ true ]Variance (s) from provisions of Section Sec. 4.1.1 ; Sec. 5.1.8 of the Zoning Ordinance, specifically from Section 5.1.8
requires 1.5 parking spaces per unit, or a total of 5 spaces for the proposed 3 units, where applicant
proposes to provide 3 parking spaces each 8-feet wide, one for each unit, as shown on the Plot Plan..
Section 4.1.1 of the Ordinance requires 15,000 SF of lot area per dwelling unit in the R-1 District. The total lot area of 55 Butler Street
isonly 4,238 SF, or 2,119 SF per unit for the 2 eixisting units. Applicant proposes approval of a variance to allow a lot area per dwelling
unit of 1,412 SF for the 3-family use.District

The Undersigned hereby petitions the Board of Appeals to vary the terms of the Salem Zoning Ordinance and allow the project to be
constructed as per the plans submitted, as the enforcement of said Zoning By-Laws would involve practical difficulty or unnecessary
hardship to the Undersigned and relief may be granted without substantially derogating from the intent and purpose of the Zoning
Ordinance.
