At the time of inspection Mr. Greenbaum made the following observations, the basement is full of furniture, clothing and miscellaneous debris. This debris appeared to be contaminated by'human waste. There are numerous bottles of what appeared to be human urine, loose and bottled hypodermic needles and other drug paraphernalia. Additionally, it appears that several people are residing in the basement of this building. In accordance with Massachusetts General Law c.111, s122 the Salem Board of Health determines that these conditions create an imminent health hazard and public health nuisance. Therefore, in accordance with Massachusetts General Law c.111, s123, you are ordered to hire a contractor who is licensed in the removal hazardous materials as well as biohazards. The basement must be completely cleaned out, sanitized and disinfected. All work orders, invoices and bills of lading must be submitted to the Salem Board of Health. These violations must be corrected within 24 hours of receipt of this order. Failure to comply with this order may result in a criminal complaint being sought against you in Salem District Court. Should you be aggrieved by this Order, you have the right to request a hearing before the Board of Health. A request for such a hearing must be received in writing in this office of the Board of Health within seven (7) days of receipt of this Order. At said hearing, you will be given the opportunity to be heard and to present witness and documentary evidence as to why this Order should be modified or withdrawn. You may be represented by an attorney. Please also be informed that you have the right to inspect and obtain copies of all relevant inspection or investigation reports, orders, and other documentary information in the possession of this Board, and that any adverse party has the right to be present at the hearing. I have updated the trustees name to be Priscilla Legault as indicated by you and confirmed in city records. 2. I have changed the mailing address to 1 Pickering Street as I had inadvertently used 1 Pingree Street. I am forwarding you this updated letter to you for your files and to correct the record.
