Asbestos Survey Report
1 Pickering St.
Salem, MA. 01970
To Whom it May Concern,
This report represent the analytical results for the samples collected by ACA Environmental
Lab, LLC at 1 Pickering St. Salem,MA. 01970 on February 25, 2025.
Purpose and Scope of Survey
The purpose of this asbestos survey was to identify all accessible asbestos containing building
materials (ACBM)that are scheduled for disturbance by the upcoming renovation/demolition
project. A MA DLS licensed Asbestos Inspector performed visual and physical observation, and
sampling of all accessible suspect ACBM.
All samples of suspect ACBM were collected in accordance with EPA NESHAP Standard for
Demolition and Renovation as described in 40 CFR Subpart M 61.145,placed in leak-tight
containers, labeled, and recorded on a"Chain of Custody."
.A total of 21 bulk samples were collected including following materials: horsehair plaster, skip
coat plaster, base coat plaster, drywall board, join compound, yellow adhesive associated with
white ceramic tile, grout associated with white ceramic tile.
Laboratory Analysis
All bulk samples were delivered to EPA accredited laboratory EMSL Analytical,Inc. of Woburn,
Massachusetts, which is MA DLS licensed PLM analytical provider. EMSL Analytical, Inc. is a
participant in the NVLAP proficiency program and is accredited by the American Industrial
Hygiene Association.
All samples were analyzed using Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM)to determine possible
asbestos content. It should be noted that although PLM is the method currently recognized in
State regulations for asbestos identification in bulk samples, some industry studies have found
that PLM may not be sensitive enough to detect all of the asbestos fibers in certain materials. In
the event where more definitive results are required, transmission electron microscopy is
recommended as confirmation testing.
Survey Results:
Twenty one(21) samples were collected and twenty (20) samples were analyzed by EMSL
Analytical,Inc. of Woburn,MA.
The following material tested negative for asbestos content:
• Horsehair Plaster
• Skim Coat Plaster
• Base Coat Plaster
• Plaster
• Joint Compound
• Drywall Board

Conclusion:
Based on sampling results, there are asbestos containing materials identified that require safe
removal by a Massachusetts licensed asbestos abatement contractor before renovation/
demolition, specifically: yellow adhesive associated with white ceramic tile in the kitchen and
laundry room.
The conclusions of this survey are based of the conditions of the project site at the time of the
survey. Due to the limited nature of any survey, future renovation/demolition activities could
uncover other suspect materials that were not accessible during the time of inspection. Suspect
asbestos containing materials not sampled during this survey may be hazardous and should be
treated as asbestos containing until sampled and proven otherwise. If suspect materials do
become uncovered, stop any renovation/demolition activities and consult your professional
inspection services before further renovation/demolition is resumed.
