Dear Mr. DiPaolo:
The following is to address your concerns set forth in your letter dated 5/7/2003.
As per our conversation on 6/9/03 regarding the project at 266 Essex Street(Bowman's)the
insulation in the third floor cathedral ceiling area shall be of a spray on material that meets the State
Energy Code R-30 requirement. Any insulation installed in non-cathedral area shall be an R-30
fiberglass batts as noted on Sheet A-5, of HHM Architectural Drawing dated 6/3/03.
As discussed in our telephone conversations "High Hat"vents will be installed at locations as close
to roof ridge as possible to exhaust attic area. Soffit vents will not be installed as discussed in the
aforementioned telecon due to the non-compatabity of existing eave/soffit construction

We are pleased to quote our pti.ce oftwenty-six thousand dollars($26,000.00)for a fire sprinkler system
for the above referenced project with the following clarifications,alternates and exceptions.
Our proposal is based on the plans provided for bid, specifically the mansion plana sheets SP 1,and SP2
dated 20 June 03.Our proposal is also based on the specifications provided for bid section 15300.
Alternate 1;If the walls and ceilings of the closets under 24 sq ft and bathrooms under 55 sq ft are surfaced
with non-combustible or limited combustible materials providing a 1$-minute thermal barrier, including
behind fixtures, 18 sprinklers would no longer be required.Not having to install these sprinklers would
reduce the system cost by two thousand four hundred and sixty dollars($2,460.00).
Our.priee is contingent upon the owner providing I full set of budding plans(including electrical,
mechanical,and structural),both hard copy and in an Auto Cad compatible format at no expense to Metro
Swift Metro Swift also requests that any revisions Or changes made by the architect or engineer be
transmitted to Metro Swift so we can assess its impact on the sprinkler system design and cost.Any
changes to the sprinkler system resulting from failure to inform Metro Swift of changes or revisions will be
at the owner's expense.
This proposal is based on all areas remaining as shown on bid plans,adaquare beating,sufficient city water
supply. This proposal is also based on the underground supply piping into the budding being at least 4"in
diameter.The quote price is not based on prevailing wage rates.
Not included in our proposal are electric and fire alarm wiring,fire or booster pumps,painting of pipe or
equipment,cutting or patching,fire extinguishers,and underground water supply(flushing add testing of
same).Any alarm,system shutdowxt charges or fire watch charges are not included in the proposal price.
The Owner's engineer is responsible for ensuring that the building structure will accommodate the hanging
and seismic loads imposed by the fire sprinkler system.

There are still some outstanding issues concerning the Bowman Bakery job. We spoke
briefly on May 1 or May 2 and you were going to address my concerns.
1. Engineer Report of post and beam cut up on top floor.
2. Affidavit on clean up of asbestos from burner in basement.
3. Support under ridge pole didn't line up with support from the
from the double top plate down in back from the top floor to
the middle floor_
4. Sprinkler drawings not on file.in Building Department.
5. Cathedral area on the top floor not deep enough to accept
thick enough to accept insulation thick enough to meet
the Energy Code Review on the building.
6. Check all egress windows from the bedrooms. I don't believe
they all comply.
7. Detail on the finish of brick work— cut on top floor.
Please be advised that all construction having to do with these areas are on hold until

Street, Salem, Massachusetts has been reviewed, and to the best of my knowledge and
ability, the project has proceeded according to the drawings prepared by H.H. Morant&
Co., Inc. (dated 3/31/02 and revised through 9/13/04) and Fire Suppression drawings
prepared by Johnson Engineering (various dates). The project appears to comply with
applicable provisions of the Massachusetts State Building Code & ADA.
Further, to the best of my knowledge and ability, site parking, life safety, egress stairs,
residential units, ground level commercial units and site water drainage are complete, and

During an inspection of your property at 266 Essex Street, on October 12,
1984, the following violations were noted:
1. Two rooms at top of stairs - electrical cord from one room to
another across corridor - MUST BE REMOVED
2. Left front room has leak in ceiling and paint is peeling
3. Emergency door to roof is catching on threshhold and is difficult
to open and close
4. Stairs from inside to roof exit need protective railing
5. Bathroom needs soap and paper towel dispenser
6. Bathroom window won't stay open
7. Bathroom door needs self closing mechanism
8. Lighting needed for emergency roof exit
9. Emergency auxilliary lights .needed for connecting corridor and front stairway
10. Ceiling in connecting corridor is peeling
11. FRONT STAIRS - last three steps at bottom need -protectiverailing
on right side (looking down) because stainoav narrows on that side
and is an accident hazard.

Based on site visits through 10/04/04, the Timothy Orne Condominium project, 266 Essex
Streets, Salem, MA has been reviewed, and to the best of my knowledge and ability, the
project is proceeding according to the drawings prepared by H.H. Morant& Co., Inc.
(dated 3/31/02 and revised through 9/13/04) and Fire Suppression drawings prepared by
Johnson Engineering (various dates). The project appears to comply with applicable
provisions of the Massachusetts State Building Code& ADA.
Further, to the best of my knowledge and ability, the site parking, life safety, egress stairs,
residential units and ground level commercial units are complete, and ready for temporary
occupancy.
Outstanding SRA/DRB approved exterior finishes and basement storage unit areas shall be
completed and a letter provided to your office prior to final occupancy permit issuance.
