At the time of inspection, plastic bags of trash, pieces of wall board, metal piping, scattered paper, many empty glass liauor bottles and other debris were noted. It was also noted that it appears that unknown persons may be using the area for sleeping purposes. Kindly take immediate corrective action to remove all debris and clean and maintain the area to prevent rodent, harborage and infestation within 24 hours of receipt of this Notice. Trash must be contained in rodent-proof containers with tight fitting lids and removed freauentiv. Securing the alleyway to prevent entry and these conditions may be in order. Mr. David Harris Building Inspector Department of Public Property One Salem Green Salem, MA 01970 Dear Mr. Harris: Thank you for speaking-with:me:about-the problem we are having in our new office location(at-230 Essex Street in—tSalem. Per our conversation, a written des rY[pt br of=the-problem follows. On July 27, 1988 we moved into our new office at 230 Essex Street in Salem. Our landlord, Mr. Richard Shribman at 101 Washington Street in Salem, had agreed to fix the entry door to the store prior to our taking occupancy. The door is aluminum and glass; the glass is cracked and is not safety glass which code requires; there is no closer so that the door crashes everytime it is closed. Mr. Harris, to date Mr. Shribman has done nothing to fix the door and after many conversations with him about this, I am certain he has no intention whatsoever of doing so. I am concerned that the glass in the door will break and injure an innocent party. However, it is obvious that the landlord, quite frankly, can't be bothered. Can you help us?
