Dear Mr. Monroe,
This letter is a follow up to our conversation, in your bookstore, earlier today. As 1 stated
earlier, the book storage in your bookstore exceeds safe amounts and needs to be
addressed.
• Books are stacked on top of overstocked shelves, and in some places, up to the
ceiling.
• Books are stacked in such a way that aisles are narrowed.
• Books are stacked on the check out counter over 2 feet high.
• Books are stacked within inches of the egress doors.
The Salem Fire Prevention Bureau will conduct a reinspection of your bookstore on
Wednesday June 30, 2010. Please review the enclosed violation letter with noted code
violations. Have a copy of the required annual fire alarm system test at the time of the
reinspection.
You are hereby ordered to remedy the code violations forthwith.
if you feel aggrieved by this order, your appeal is to Chief David Cody, Salem Fire
Department.
