I am writing to inform you that you that the `blade' signage, noting Miss Betty's Hat Emporium on one face and Salem
Smugglers' Tour on the opposite side that you attached to your Angelica of the Angels approved `blade' signage at your
business at 192 Essex Street was done without receiving the necessary approval from the Salem Redevelopment
Authority(SRA) or permits from the City of Salem;therefore, you are currently in violation of regulations set forth by
both the SRA and City of Salem.
Your property is located in the Urban Renewal Area.All signs erected in the Urban Renewal Area are required to
receive approval from the Design Review Board(DRB)and the SRA. Following this review process,you are to receive
a City of Salem Sign Permit issued by the City Building Inspector prior to erecting your sign.
We are requiring that you immediately remove your illegal signage and initiate the process of applying for permission to
erect them. Failure to do so may result in further actions being brought against you,up to and including the issuance of
Municipal tickets or filing of criminal complaints at District Court. You have the right to appeal this order to the City of
