Dear Gentlemen:
Due to complaints of evicessive noise emanating from your food establishment '
exhaust system, decibel level readings were taken at 4 Union Street, unit 3C on
June 30,1992 at 8:00pm.
The readings were taken by William Burke R.S. Senior Sanitarian and Virginia
Houstakis Sanitarian, of the Salem Health Department. The followine results
were noted:.
Unit 3C Rear Bedroom Window
Exhaust fan on (high setting) 61-62 dB(A)
Exhaust fan off (Background) 54-55 dB(A)
The results confirm that modification made last year to the exhaust system have
continued to keep the system in compiance with Massachusetts Sound level
Criteria (i.e. does not exceed IOdB(A) above anbient[backaround]) .
The Health Department reauests that tree limb which has grown close to the fan
be removed, and the fan be used on the low setting as often as possible.
