Cahill,Jr. 7 '/2 Lyme Street Salem,MA 01970 Dear Mr. Cahill,Jr.: The Salem Board of Health received a complaint regarding asbestos siding falling off your property located at 7 1/2 Lyme Street in Salem,MA. An inspection of the property was conducted on August 6,2025. Upon inspection of this property,the following was noted: At the rear of the property,asbestos siding was found falling off the property and into the neighboring property at 30 Gardener Street. In accordance with Massachusetts General Law c.111, s.122,Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulation 105 CMR 410.250, and Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection regulation 310 CMR 7.15,the Salem Board of Health determines this condition creates an imminent health hazard and public health nuisance. In accordance with Massachusetts General Law c.111, s.123,Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulation 105 CMR 410.002, and Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection regulation 310 CMR 7.52,you are ordered to take any and every action to correct the violation within 14 days of receipt of this order. Further,you are to take action to prevent the recurrence of the nuisance.All asbestos removal and cleaning must be done by a licensed asbestos abatement contractor. The debris must be properly bagged and disposed of at a facility licensed to accept such hazardous waste. Failure to comply with this order may result in this matter being brought to court. Should you be aggrieved by this Order,you have the right to request a hearing before the Board of Health. A request for such a hearing must be received in writing in this office of the Board of Health within seven(7)days of receipt of this Order. At said hearing,you will be given the opportunity to be heard and to present witness and documentary evidence as to why this Order should be modified or withdrawn. You may be represented by an attorney. Please also be informed that you have the right to inspect and obtain copies of all relevant inspection or investigation reports,orders,and other documentary information in the possession of this Board,and that any adverse party has the right to be present at the hearing.
