Dear Owner,
During an inspection on July 29, 2025, alongside the health department, the following
violations were observed:
-The basement of the building has an illegal bedroom which is in violation of Massachusetts
Building Code section 1031.3.
-A basement room that serves as the top floor units means of egress is being used as living space
which is in violation of Massachusetts Building Code section 1016.2.1.
-Smoke detectors in stairwell and living room are not functioning which is in violation of
Massachusetts Building Code Chapter 9.
You are directed to cease and desist the current use of the basement bedroom and living space
upon receipt of this letter. You are also directed to ensure all smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
are in good working condition. Failure to comply will result in municipal ticketing.
If you are aggrieved by this notice, your appeal is to the Board of Building Regulations and
Standards
