Since that time, it appears nothing has been done about this
situation, so now I feel it is time for a follow up .
I live on Dunlap Street and noticed two we=eks before my
phone call to your office on March 30th , someone moving out
of the third floor- apartment at 67-69 Dunlap 'Street and
another- family moving into this apartment . As you know this
area is zoned for two family" housing , and :in order- for-
someone to have a. third apartment , they must apply for a
variance , The house in question, is owned by an absentee
landlord , and I understand dries not live in Salem and
probably could care less _about our zoning laws . Hes we all
know, there is too much Cil this type of thing happening in
Salem and it is about time we start doing something about

The reason l' am writing the: building inspector ' s office is
because I have been informed by a member of the Salem city
council this type of violation comes under your
jurisdiction .
At this time, I don ' t Feel it is necessary for me to sign
this letter , as the more important issue is to check: if the
third floor apartment is in violation of the zoning laws,
and even more important do something about it .
