Good day, We, as a residents of North Salem, would like to express concerns about the potential development of the property located at 3 1/2 rear Buffum St Salem MA. The proposal for construction, above the current structure, brings concern for the state off the retaining wall which currently supports the property. It's condition is worsening as there doesn't appear to be proper or adequate drainage. We believe that the condition will worsen with the additon of more weight in the footprint. This area should be inspected by an engineer and properly reinforced if additonal weight it to be added to the area. Additonally the removal of a tree, which has impacted the wall's integrity, will affect the retaining wall in the future as the ground water will not be absorbed by the tree. We have spoken with Tony of Cela Construction regarding these matters. Additionally when felling a tree, the contractor's hired tree removal company caused damages to our driveway. Tony noted that they will speak with the tree removal company regarding the damage to the driveway. We would like to make it known that this damage is to be properly repaired as opposed to quick patched as the pre- existing driveway was free of cracks. These dents and cracks will allow a localized absorption of water that will lead to further damages if not addressed properly. Thank you,
