Re: Decision of the Zoning Board of Appeals to grant a six (6)month extension to Canal Street Station,
LLC to exercise rights granted by the July 12, 2023, Board Decision that approved variances from
Section 4.1.1 Dimensional Requirements for building heights at 266,282,286,282R Canal Street and 8
Kimball Road.
The Salem Zoning Board of Appeals met on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, to discuss your request for a six (6)
month extension to exercise rights granted by the July 12, 2023, Board Decision that approved variances for
building heights.
The request before the Board on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, was to extend this timeline for the variances an
additional six (6) months to January 12th, 2025.
On April 2,2024,a letter from Attorney Joeseph Correnti on behalf of Canal Street Station,LLC was submitted
requesting a six (6) month extension. This extension would expire on January 12th, 2025.
As noted by Chris Koeplin at the May 15th, 2024, meeting, the petitioner has commenced demolition on the
site and the petitioner is currently working on getting their building permits.
The petitioner will file updated plans with the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Building Commissioner. The
Building Commissioner will review the plans in consultation with the Chair of the Board of Appeals. Any
changes that affect the zoning relief that was initially granted by the Board of Appeals will be brought back to
this board.
The Zoning Board of Appeals voted five (5) in favor (Nina Vyedin (Chair), Paul Viccica, Ellen Simpson,
Stephen Larrick and Hannah Osthoff and none (0) opposed to grant the requested six-month extension to
exercise the rights granted by the July 12th, 2023, Board Decision.
This determination shall become part of the record for this project.
