50 DOW STREET i Z) d QST TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR RENTAL REHABILITATION SECTION T1 - PLANS AND PERMITS A. PLANS Contractor is responsible for all counts and measures. Any figures given are estimates and should be treated as such. Plans provided with contract are sketches and should not be considered exact. B. PERMITS Contractor is responsible for obtaining any necessary permits. Subcontractors will be responsible for :heir own permits. C. LICENSES All Contractors are required to be licensed by the appropriate authority. D. INSURANCE All Contractors will carry adequate insurance and shall supply proof of having same. Fire Alarm System - The electrical contractor will install a fire alarm system which will satisfy Salems' Local Fire Code. The following plan is a guideline for the system, however any bid submitted will be approved by the Salem Fire Prevention Bureau or will not be considered. Electrician will be licensed and will obtain permits from the Fire Prevention Bureau and the Salem Electrical Department before beginning work. b. Hallway Areas - Hallway areas (7) will have existing detectors and wiring taken out carefully as it will be reused. Conduit will remain to be used for new system. New system will be a low voltage system of multi-station smoke detector with separate horn/light combination. The detectors will all be tied into a multi-zone Fire Alarm Panel with annunciator. The Panel will be located in the basement and the annunciator in the hallway of building #56. Detectors will be located at every floor with horns at every other floor. There will also be 2 detectors and a fixed temperature heat detector located in each of the 5 basements. An exterior horn/light combination will be located outside of building #56 to show the location of the annunciator. c. Interior of units - Building #56 has no system installed. This building will be equipped with single station hard-wired A/C smoke detectors in each of the bedrooms for a total of 20 new installations. The remaining detectors in all of the units need a ground wire run from then to one of the new grounded circuits previously installed in each room. In each of the new grounded circuits previously installed in each room. In each of the remaining 16 apartments there is one room which doesn't contain a detector, this room will have a detector installed for a total of 16 installations. All other detectors in the apartments will be put in good working order. Any detectors which do not work will be replaced with the detectors that were taken out of the hallways. Any detectors that are down will be hooked up and put in working order. Any left over detectors from hallways will remain property of the owner. The Fire alarm System is to be directly connected to the municipal system by means of a Master Fire Alarm Box. (Specifications can be obtained from the Salem City Electrician). d. Emergency Lighting - Contractor will install emergency lighting in every hallway. Lighting will be an emergency light unit, battery back-up, twin sealed beam light, 25 watt, 6 volt system. Emergency lighting will be set-up so that one beam shines on each stairway from first to fourth floor. e. Lighting in basements - Contractor will install lighting in each of the five basements. Two porcelain fixtures will be installed, one by each entrance and one over each set of boilers, for a total of 10. f. First Floor Lighting - Lighting in each of the heallways first floors will be separated from the existing timers so that they run continuously all day to compensate for the darkness in the hallways, a total of 7 lights will be separated from the timer.
