Applicant's Description of Work: We respectfully request approval for our proposed exterior paint colors for
our home. After careful consideration and with a deep appreciation for the
historical character of the property, we have selected the following
Benjamin Moore colors:
Body: Velvet Cloak - a rich, deep tone that offers a timeless and dramatic
presence appropriate for the home's architectural character.
Door: Startling Orange - a vibrant and complementary accent that
highlights the entryway and adds a welcoming, historic-inspired contrast.
In terms of finish, we would prefer to use a low-luster sheen
(approximately 9-15% reflectivity). This lower sheen is more appropriate
for older homes, as it minimizes the visual impact of any imperfections in
the wood or previous paint layers, which are common in historic structures.
In our experience, higher-gloss finishes such as semi-gloss tend to
accentuate these inconsistencies and feel less authentic to the period.

Additionally, we are seeking approval to repaint our existing fence in a
classic black. This choice is both practical and historically sympathetic,
providing a neutral, clean backdrop that does not detract from the
architecture of the home.
