as described below will be appropriate to the preservation of said Historic District, as per the requirements set forth in the Historic
District's Act (M.G.L. Ch. 40C) and the Salem Historic Districts Ordinance.

Applicant's Description of Work: There is water entering the basement through 5 small basement windows that will need to be
replaced with Brosco wooden single pane replacement windows to match the existing.
There is a bulkhead that is also responsible for water penetration to the basement that will need repair or replacement.
And the last item is there is a composite deck at the back of the house that was installed recently that is also responsible for water
penetration to the basement presumably because faulty insulation.
Some of this decking will need to be removed to address the leaks.
Statement of Conditions:
Water penetration into basement to be mitigated with the following:
Replace 5 basement windows with Brosco wooden single pane replacement windows to match existing
In-kind repairs to existing bulkhead to mitigate leaking.
Pull up existing deck boards to access and repair the roof underneath the decking. Existing boards to
be put back.
Non-applicable due to being in-kind work.
*NOTE: Historic materials and details must be retained and repaired except where material is not salvageable and must be
replaced. If replacement is necessary, new elements must replicate existing details, dimensions and materials. Should any
changes to materials, design or outward appearance be determined necessary, Applicant must submit a new application for
review.
Upon completion of above work, please notify Historical Commission staff through permitting system as final
sign-off is required to document compliance with this Certificate and approved plans.
