An application is being submitted to the Board of Appeals for the following reason(s):
We are proposing to build a 10'x2l'single level addition that will renovate and enhance the existing 2nd floor sun room on Mr. Bill Franc s'
pre-existing nonconforming property at 204 North Street,in the R-2 Zoning District.The Zoning Ordinance requires the minimum depth of
his rear yard to be 30 feet.The current depth of Mr.Francis'rear yard is.9 feet and 12 feet(by laws for comer lot give us 2 fronts and 2
rears).The proposed addition would not reduce or Increase the depth of either rear yards.
For this reason,I am requesting:

The Undersigned hereby petitions the Board of Appeals to vary the terms of the Salem Zoning Ordinance and allow the project to be
constructed as per the plans submitted,as the enforcement of said Zoning By-Laws would nvolve practical difficulty or unnecessary
hardship to the Undersigned and relief may be granted without substantially derogal ng from the intent and purpose of the Zoning
Ordinance.

Property owner and family would like to renovate the existing deck and sun room,the result of the project would enhance the look of the
property as well and please the residents at 204 North street to see their beautifully remodeled addition every time they pull into their
driveway.The proposed renovation does not and will not decrease setbacks from either rear yard as all construction is within the existing
footprint which will remain unaltered.With little to no impact to the natural environment and the only impact to traffic flow and parking
being potential during construction,we believe such a renovation is not at all more detrimental to the neighborhood than the existing non-
conformity of the structure
