An application is being submitted to the Board of Appeals for the following reason(s):
I am propsing to construct an 18'x 18'(with one comer cut off)one story addition to my home located at 13 Scenic Avenue in the R-1
zoning discbict.The lot is uncommon in that it has 3 front yards and 1 rear yard.There is an existing portion of the home that is right on
the property line.We propose to tear down this portion of the structure and rebuild it(slightly larger)so that it is approximately T away
from the property line at it's closest point.The required setback is 15'.Another portion of this new construction may infringe on another
property line and be approximately 14'away where the required setback is 15'. There is already another portion of the building that is
approximately 10'away from this property line.
For this reason,I am requesting:

The Undersigned hereby petitions the Board of Appeals to vary the terms of the Salem Zoning Ordinance and allow the project to be
constructed as per the plans submitted,as the enforcement of said Zoning By-Laws would involve practical difficulty or unnecessary
hardship to the Undersigned and relief may be granted without substantially derogating from the intent and purpose of the Zoning
Ordinance.

This is a living room addition on a single-family home to replace an existing living room addition that will be removed. We are decreasing
the existing nonconformity by pulling the structure back T away from the property line where it is currently just about on the property line.
This project results in no additional traffic, parking requirements, noise or odors.The architectural design of the project fits with the
character of the existing house and the existing neighborhood. The current property has all municipal utility services which will not be
impacted by this project.
