Hi Robyn:
We are Not seeking approval of a 2nd dwelling unit, ADU or otherwise. This will remain a single-
family residence In the R-1 District.
Our application as filed requests Variances to construct the accessory garage with space above for
the applicantsʼ use and storage. The Variances are for the garage building height of 24ʼ where the
Ordinance maximum is 18ʼ; for front yard width of .08 ‘ where the Ordinance requires 15ʼ, and
distance of 21ʼ between the garage and the dwelling where the Ordinance requires 40ʼ.
That is how the published notice reads.
The hardship is based upon the dramatically rising topography of the lot from front to back, and
the underlying and outcroppings of ledge that would have to be leveled and removed at great
expense to place the garage anywhere else on the lot.
I apologize for my mistaken reference in my last message to needing approval by Special Permit,
which was wrong. Lesson learned: I should not have answered your inquiry from my home without
first reviewing my file to refresh my memory.
Thanks for your patience.
Bill
