An application is being submitted to the Board of Appeals for the following reason(s):
A porch/means of egress is in need of repair. I would like to utilize a spiral staircase.The zoning Ordinance requires the minimum
depth of the rear yeard to be 30ft. The existing portch violates that by about 10 feet. This proposal would reduce that violation by
5 ft.
For this reason,I am requesting:

The Undersigned hereby petitions the Board of Appeals to vary the terms of the Salem Zoning Ordinance and allow the project to be
constructed as per the plans submitted,as the enforcement of said Zoning By-Laws would involve practical difficulty or unnecessary
hardship to the Undersigned and relief may be granted without substantially derogating from the intent and purpose of the Zoning
Ordinance.

Once the new porch is completed,my intention is to seek approval to make more parking spaces. This is a 4 unit house,but there
is only enough parking for 1 unit. I wish to create parking for my tennants,which would reduce the number of cars on the street
by 3. If 1 am able to provide parking for the apartments,that would incease the City Tax base,as well as be a more appealing
apartment for individuals with cars.
