An application is being submitted to the Board of Appeals for the following reason(s):
We propose to rebuild the front portion of the roof, belonging to the top unit(Unit B),with a new Nantucket style dormer street facing. In
doing so,we are changing the third floor square footage from 519 sgft.to 654 sgft..With approval we are able to create a third bedroom
on the third floor to accomodate the family's needs.The proposed finished ceiling height will be 7'-6".The proposed design is meant to
keep in style with the existing aesthetics of the home and we will match all existing siding,trim,and roofing materials.
For this reason,I am requesting:

The Undersigned hereby petitions the Board of Appeals to vary the terms of the Salem Zoning Ordinance and allow the project to be
constructed as per the plans submitted,as the enforcement of said Zoning By-Laws would involve practical difficulty or unnecessary
hardship to the Undersigned and relief may be granted without substantially derogating from the intent and purpose of the Zoning
Ordinance.

We propose to rebuild the front portion of the roof, belonging to the top unit(Unit B),with a new Nantucket style dormer street facing.This
would change the building from a 2.5 story 2-family structure to a 3 story 2-family structure,square footage on the third floor would
change from 519 sgft.to 654 sqft..The proposed design is meant to keep in style with the existing aesthetics of the home and we will
match all existing siding,trim,and roofing materials.The proposed finished ceiling height will be 7'-6". The back
portion of the roof will not be affected. With approval of this change, we are able to create a third
bedroom on the third floor to accomodate the family's need to have separate bedrooms for their
children. The home owner was raised in the house and his parents had converted the structure to a 2-
family. He chose to move his family into the top unit as a means of raising his children close to their
grandparents and remaining in the community he grew up in.
