The property manager is required to acquire a new Certificate of Fitness whenever there is turnover in a dwelling unit per City of Salem ordinance.The dwelling unit was vacant at the time of inspection. The violations noted in the housing letter of February 10, 2025 have been corrected and the case pertaining to this housing complaint has been closed. During the inspection new violations were noted:the toilet does not flush, and two dead cockroaches were observed in the bathtub. These violations will need to be corrected before the dwelling unit can acquire its Certificate of Fitness and be rented. The property manager is ordered to have the toilet repaired and the dwelling unit exterminated. If a licensed pest control service is used, have copies of the pest control reports delivered to the inspector by mail or email. When these violations are corrected, contact the inspector to schedule a re-inspection for the Certificate of Fitness.
