Facade Improvement for The Good WitchDecision
Small Project Review - SRA-22-6
Address of Project: 304 ESSEX STREET
Meeting Date:May 11, 2022
Members Present:Grace Napolitano, Christine Madore, Dean Rubin
Members Absent:David Guarino, Cynthia Nina-Soto
Decision:To approve the project as designed and conditioned herein.
Referenced Plans and Documents:
- Application Package submitted by Ashley Tina, Good Witch of Salem, dated 4/15/22.
Series of photographs depicting existing conditions of trim elements.
Project detail sheet listing materials, colors, products, and dimensions.
Conditions of Approval:
- Consistency with Approved Design/Plans: Should the applicant determine that the project may not be completed as presented and conditioned
herein, he/she/they shall return to the SRA to review proposed modifications prior to making any changes in the field.
-
Trim Color: Consider using a less bright white for the trim paint to coordinate with the proposed pink color on the window boxes. Two
recommendations are Behr’s Mainsail and Benjamin Moore’s Barely There.
Window Boxes:
Add legs to the window boxes, ala the boxes at Front Street Coffee House, to ensure compliance with ADA regulations.
Window boxes can be 8” in width so long as they have the legs that carry down to the sidewalk.
The height of the boxes should not exceed the window sill height.
Findings:
- The Authority found that the project is consistent with the design guidelines and standards for façade improvements.
The white trim with the pink window boxes will coordinate with the business' branding.
The window boxes, when installed with the legs that extend downward to the sidewalk will ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
Signature of the SRA: By the signature below, I certify that this recommendation accurately reflects the actions of the Salem Redevelopment
Authority Board.
