(978) 745-9595 STAVROULA ORFANOS BUILDING COMMISSIONER/ DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PROPERTY/ ZONING ENFORCEMENT OFFICER Snow Removal Violation – Warning Wesley United Methodist Church 8 North Street, Salem, MA 01970 January 13, 2025 Owner: Wesley M E Church C/O Trustee 8 North Street Salem, MA 01970 On the morning of 01/13/2025 at 10:32 AM, I received an email from Voula Orfanos informing me of a complaint that the snow has not been removed from the corner sidewalks along Lynde Street and North Street from a recent snow event on January 11, 2025. Upon arrival to the property at 11:11 AM, I observed the aforementioned sidewalks to not be shoveled. After taking photo documentation of the unsafe conditions, I rang the bell at the side entrance of the Wesley United Methodist Church to inquire with someone within. Pastor John Parody answered the door. I introduced myself as a Building Inspector with the Salem Building Department and informed him the corner sidewalks along Lynde Street and North Street are currently unsafe and need to be shoveled. The Pastor mentioned his facility person has been out and that he himself will take care of shoveling the sidewalks. I informed the Pastor that I will be back later in the day to check on the status of the sidewalks and if they are not shoveled by the end of today, then he will receive a ticket for being in violation of Section 38-13 Removal of Snow from Sidewalks in the Salem Code of Ordinances.
